PL Asset Management, part of the Prabhudas Lilladher Group, has announced the launch of its maiden Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) --- the PL Capital Performing Credit Fund. The Category II AIF targets ₹500 crore with an additional ₹500 crore greenshoe option, aiming to offer structured private credit to India’s fast-growing mid-market corporates.
Focussing on secured debt across listed and unlisted firms (excluding real estate), the fund promises capital protection and regular income through loan interest, amortisation, and potential event-linked upside, according to a press release.
Backed by over 150 years of collective investment experience, PL Capital aims to tap into the booming private credit opportunity in India, projected to surpass USD 50 billion by 2026.
The fund benefits from the “PL Capital Edge”, the group’s 80-year legacy in Indian capital markets, regulatory credibility, and a deep origination network across its investment banking, research, and wealth arms.
Its marquee investment committee includes industry veterans like Amisha Vora (PL Capital MD), former SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar, and global fund manager Dr. Punita Kumar-Sinha, among others.
Helming the fund is Samir Satyam, with 25+ years in structured finance, alongside credit head Kapil Sachdeva, who brings expertise in risk, ratings, and credit management.
The fund targets UHNIs, HNIs, family offices, and institutions seeking low-volatility, income-generating assets.
With governance rigour, sectoral diversity, and a research-led approach, PL’s debut AIF reflects its long-term commitment to India’s alternative credit market.
